THE GRAMOPHONE MONTH
This month is particularly exciting for us, as we celebrate 90 years since Sir Compton Mackenzie launched Gramophone. The past nine decades have seen both music technology and the classical repertoire transformed in ways our founder could never have imagined – and yet we hope he would find much that is familiar in our aim of bringing the most expert, insightful and enjoyable writing about classical music to our readers today. Our anniversary issue – out now – explores how we’ve covered those 90 years, looking back to 1923, forwards to the future, and at how we’ve covered the many musical milestones between. We hope you enjoy it!
