GRAMOPHONE DE MARÇO

THE GRAMOPHONE MONTH
There's much in the news this month. James Levine leaving Boston is hardly a shock given the sad state of his health, but Bostonians will be sorry to see the departure of a conductor who has done so much to restore the orchestra to glory. Maestro of a younger generation Vasily Petrenko, has shown his own orchestra-building qualities in Liverpool and Oslo will be delighted with his impending arrival there. Also this issue, Jeremy Nicholas has written a fascinating piece on the decline of the hymn, and Philip Clark has written an essay on the musically daring world of the movies - a perfect taster for this month's special film music issue of Gramophone
