ONLY one radio station survived the bombardment of Germany in World War II: Radio Hamburg, in what became the British sector. Continued broadcasts were an important tool in re-establishing normalcy. Joseph Goebbels had predicted that an Allied victory would mean the end of German culture, and the British were eager to prove otherwise.
