The Soviet Pianist Who Wasn’t All Thunder

LISTENERS who regularly make their way along the main roads and side streets of New York music know that it won’t be long before they come across another young pianist from the former Soviet Union. One hardly needs to open the program. Correct Mozart or Beethoven will be offered as a duty fulfilled. There will be high-powered Chopin or Liszt played with staggering competence.
