Bobby McFerrin returns to Carnegie Hall February 21 to perform two Perspectives concerts. McFerrin discusses his past experiences performing at the Hall, as well as his foray into the world of conducting.
Karita Mattila: Balancing Act 11 Feb 2008-->
Soprano Karita Mattila is equally praised for her vocal gifts and dramatic stage presence. Both talents were on vivid display when she sang the free-spirited title character of Puccini’s Manon Lescaut for the first time at the Met in January. That production continues this month, including a live HD transmission to movie theaters around the world on February 16.
Carnegie Hall: Messiaen's Exotic Love Song 10 Feb 2008-->
In a February 15 Carnegie Hall concert, David Robertson and the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra will perform Olivier Messiaen's Turangalîla-symphonie. The piece features the unique sound of an early electronic instrument known as the ondes martenot.
