The Finnish conductor Osmo Vanska, a favorite of New York audiences in recent seasons, is now a regular at the Mostly Mozart Festival, and as part of his brief residency this summer he let listeners glimpse another side of his musicianship. At his Tuesday and Wednesday evening concerts with the festival orchestra at Avery Fisher Hall he played the clarinet — his instrument before he took up the baton — in Mozart’s Serenade for Winds in C minor (K. 388).
