Verdi wrote three operas based on Shakespeare's plays, and of this trio, some regard "Macbeth" like an unloved stepchild. Lyric Opera ofChicago introduced "Macbeth" in 1969, and is presenting it through Oct. 30 in a new production, directed by noted Bard specialist Barbara Gaines, founder and artistic director of Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
