LA Phil to broadcast live concerts featuring Dudamel to more than 450 theaters in the U.S. and Canada

The Los Angeles Philharmonic has announced that three upcoming concerts led by Gustavo Dudamel will be transmitted live in high definition to more than 450 movie theaters in the U.S. and Canada. The first of the three LA Phil LIVE (www.laphil.com/LAPhilLive) programs to be broadcast from Walt Disney Concert Hall is a January 9 performance of John Adams's Slonimsky's Earbox, Bernstein's Symphony No. 1, "Jeremiah," and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7.

Other concerts to be featured in the series include an all-Tchaikovsky program on March 13, and an all-Brahms program on June 5, that is highlighted by brothers Renaud and Gautier Capuçon performing the Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra in A Minor.

Dudamel leads GSO in 20th-century program

Gustavo Dudamel leads the GSOThis month Gustavo Dudamel returns to the Gothenburg Symphony, where he is in his fourth season as Music Director, to lead the orchestra in a program of 20th-century masterpieces: Webern'sPassacaglia, Berg's Seven Early Songs, and Stravinsky's L'Oiseau de feu (The Firebird).  For these concerts, the soloist for the Berg is English soprano Geraldine McGreevy. The first concert is on November 25 with repeat performances on November 26 and 27.

Deutche Grammophon to release LA Phil opening night gala concert, Celebración, on DVD

Dudamel and FlorezDeutsche Grammophon will release Dudamel's opening night gala concert with the Los Angeles Philharmonic on DVD internationally on November 24, 2010, and in the United States on December 14, 2010.  Titled Celebración, the performance was recorded live at Walt Disney Concert Hall on October 7, and features Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez as the guest soloist. The program includes works by Rossini and popular Latin American canciones.

Dudamel rings in the New Year with the Berlin Philharmonic

For his final performance in the year 2010, Gustavo Dudamel returns to the Berlin Philharmonic to lead the orchestra in a program of popular works by Berlioz, Saint-Saëns, Bizet, and de Falla. The program opens with Berlioz's stand-alone overture, Le Carnaval Romain, and includes several beloved works from the French operatic repertoire, such as selections from Bizet'sCarmen, and two arias sung by Latvian mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča.
