La Forza del destino by Verdi

Live from the Opéra Bastille, Paris


Thirty years after it was last performed at the Opera national de ParisLa Forza del destino is staged there again by Jean-Claude Auvray who precisely started his career with this work.
This opera composed by Giuseppe Verdi is about love, secret, murder and fate during the War of the Austrian Succession in the middle of the XVIIIth century.

Live from the Opera BastillePhilippe Jordan on the podium will conduct the Paris Opera Orchestra and Chorus and the production will star Marcelo Raúl Àlvarez(Don Alvaro), Violeta Urmana (Donna Leonora), Mario Luperi (Il Marchese di Calatrava), Vladimir Stoyanov (Don Carlo di Vargas ).

Watch Lise de la Salle live for the first time on medici.tv, performing at Paris’s Auditorium du Louvre – where she made her debut at just 14. The young pianist offers a program of original works by Liszt. Her most recent album dedicated to the composer was selected as aGramophone “Editor’s Choice” and awarded a Diapason d’Or.

She will first perform some of Liszt's original works such as his Funérailles excerpt of Harmonies poétiques et religieuses, S 173, No. 7, or his Ballade en B minor, S 171. She will then play famous piano transcriptions as his dazzling version of Wagner’s Liebestod alongside transcriptions of works by MozartSchumann andSchubert.

With Yehudi Menuhin 

Filmed after the Second World War, this concert includes performances by Yehudi Menuhin and other artists. It was shot in Charlie Chaplin's original film studio in year 1947 and the recordings have been barely watched since then.
