2013 MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR
 Gustavo Dudamel has been named Musical America's 2013 Musician of the Year. The Venezuelan conductor received the honor at a ceremony at New York's Lincoln Center last month, where his mentor, El-Sistema founder Dr. José Antonio Abreu, was also named Musical America's 2013 Educator of the Year. GUSTAVO BEGINS NEW YEAR WITH ISRAEL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
 Gustavo begins the New Year with a return to the podium of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, conducting a week-long series of eight concerts that feature cellist Emanuele Silvestri and the music of Barber, Strauss, Haydn, and Mozart. MOZARTWOCHE WITH THE VIENNA PHILHARMONIC
 Gustavo returns to the podium of the Vienna Philharmonic on January 26, conducting the esteemed ensemble at Salzburg's Großes Festspielhaus as part of the Austrian town's annual Mozartwoche. Wagner's Siegfried-Idyll prefaces Mozart's D Minor Piano Concerto K466, to be played by Portuguese guest pianist Maria Joao Pires. Gustavo's Mozartwoche program with the Vienna Philharmonic concludes with the composer's "Posthorn" Serenade. RETURNING TO THE BERLIN PHILHARMONIC JANUARY 31 TO FEBRUARY 3
 At the end of January, Gustavo takes the stage of the Philharmonie Berlin once again, conducting the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra with guest pianist Lang Lang. Gustavo will lead the acclaimed ensemble in two tone poems by Richard Strauss: Don Juan and Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks. Samuel Barber's beloved Adagio for Strings opens the program, which follows with Béla Bartók's arresting Second Piano Concerto. Concerts take place January 31 and February 1, 2, & 3.
