"Brazilian-born baritone Paulo Szot debuted with the company in the role of Count Almaviva. His singing was rock-solid, and he proved himself a deft comedian. Tall and extremely handsome, he was believable as the philandering nobleman, Almaviva. Considering his his rich-toned voice and good looks, it is no surprise that the Metropolitan opera cast him as another sexy, but lecherous Mozart character, Don Giovanni!"
